Generative engine optimization services
Generative engine optimization services: get named when customers ask AI who to hire.
Flamcom's generative engine optimization services make your website easy for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Google's AI features to read and quote. We restructure your pages, clear the blocks that stop AI crawlers and line up your business facts across the web. On our SEO retainer, from $1,499 a month in US dollars, we also test each AI engine separately every month. Standalone projects are quoted separately.

What generative engine optimization means, in plain words.
Generative engine optimization, or GEO, is the work of making a business easy for AI assistants to find, understand and recommend. When someone asks ChatGPT for a dentist with Saturday hours, the assistant builds its answer from sources it can read. GEO is how you become one of them.
Answer engine optimization, or AEO, is the part of that job that happens on your own pages. Each page answers a real question in its first lines, states specific facts an AI assistant can repeat, and carries structured data (schema), code that tells machines who you are. GEO is the wider job: it adds what is said about you elsewhere, such as directory profiles, reviews, articles and community discussions.
For a side-by-side of the three terms, see our SEO vs AEO vs GEO comparison.
How AI optimization differs from SEO, engine by engine.
Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode
Google's AI features often quote the one section of a page that answers a narrower question. A page can be cited for one sub-question even when it ranks below the top results for the broad search. Pages with a direct answer under each heading are easier to quote, which is why page structure is part of every SEO retainer we run.
ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude
These engines combine live web search with what the model learned in training, and lean heavily on sources other than your own site. Three things matter more here than in Google:
- Freshness. Engines that search live, Perplexity especially, favor pages that were recently updated.
- Earned mentions. Articles, industry lists and community discussions such as Reddit threads shape what an assistant says about a business.
- Agreement. Directory profiles and review sites that match your website make your facts easier to repeat.
The engines also differ from each other. A 2025 citation study by Profound found that ChatGPT and Perplexity cite the same domains only about 11% of the time. A business can rank well in Google and still be missing from one engine's answers, so this part is separate work.
How we build our own pages, and yours.
The structure we add to client pages is the structure we use on our own. This page is generated as static HTML, so its full content is in the first response a crawler receives, with nothing waiting on scripts.
It carries a title and meta description written for its search, a schema stack (a set of schema types such as business, service, FAQ and breadcrumbs) that matches the visible text, a Quick Facts block, an FAQ block and links to related pages.
Any developer can open this page's code and see the facts in plain HTML and the structured data in the head. Every new Flamcom site on Growth or Scale ships to the same standard, and we check your pages against it before recommending any work.
What we change on your website.
Answer-first pages, Quick Facts and FAQs
We rewrite key pages so the first two or three sentences answer the question the page targets, in words a customer would use. Each section under a heading answers one sub-question on its own, so it still makes sense when quoted alone.
We replace vague claims with facts an AI assistant can repeat accurately: prices or price ranges, areas served, turnaround, what is included and what is not. "Quality service at fair prices" gives an assistant nothing to cite, while the service, the city, the starting price and the turnaround give it a complete answer. Each service page also gets a Quick Facts block with that hard data, and an FAQ block built from your real inquiries.
Google removed FAQ rich results on May 7, 2026, so FAQs no longer earn an expanded listing. Questions and answers are still content any engine can read and quote. We write for people first, and we do not chop pages into fragments.
Structured data and matching business facts
Schema tells search engines and AI assistants who you are without making them guess. We build a stack per page type: Organization with a stable identifier that every page references, Service with prices where you publish them, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList and WebPage, plus LocalBusiness where you have a public address. Every value matches the visible text.
Your business name, services, areas and prices should also read the same on every page and in the schema. When one page says you serve three cities and another says five, an AI assistant has no reliable answer to repeat. We find these conflicts and fix them against your fact registry, explained below.
Content AI crawlers can read without scripts
Many modern sites send the browser an almost empty page and build the content with JavaScript. Google can usually render that. Several AI crawlers do not run JavaScript, so they see the empty shell and move on.
We check what each important page looks like in its raw HTML, the way a crawler that skips scripts sees it. If key content is missing, we server-render those pages on your current platform where it allows, or quote moving the marketing pages to static HTML, which is how every new Flamcom site ships. We show you the result: the page fetched without JavaScript, with the headline, answer, prices and contact details all present.
Making sure your host doesn't block AI crawlers
A site can block AI assistants without anyone on the team knowing. The usual causes are a robots.txt rule copied from an old template, or a bot-protection setting on your CDN (the network that serves your site's files) or firewall. We check both against the crawlers that matter: Googlebot, which serves AI Overviews and AI Mode; OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User for ChatGPT search; PerplexityBot; and Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User for Claude.
Some controls cover training rather than search: GPTBot gathers OpenAI training data and ClaudeBot gathers Anthropic's, while Google-Extended governs whether Gemini may use your pages. Blocking them is a separate choice, and Google-Extended has no effect on AI Overviews or AI Mode. We also read your server logs, since a robots.txt file that allows a crawler means little if the firewall returns an error page to it.
What we do away from your website.
AI engines are more likely to name a business when independent sources say the same things about it: directory listings, review platforms, industry sites and articles. If your website and three directories disagree, an assistant has less reason to repeat any of it.
For each client we keep a fact registry. It is a single record of your business name, address and phone number, plus your hours and services. Every page, directory and profile is checked against it, so a change of hours is made once and copied everywhere.
Within an SEO retainer that includes your Google Business Profile and Bing Places listing; our SEO service page lists the rest. Reviews matter too, and our automation work can send each customer a message after the job asking for a Google review. We also refresh your key pages on a schedule, since engines that search live favor recent content.
Mentions in articles and community discussions have to be earned. We do not buy them, write reviews or post under false names.
How we measure AI visibility each month.
AI answers have no ranking position, so on an SEO retainer we measure them with a fixed set of 20 to 30 test questions, agreed with you at kickoff and listed in your retainer scope. The questions cover the services you sell, the places you serve and the questions customers ask, such as "best family dentist in Mississauga open Saturdays". The set stays the same each month, so changes reflect your visibility rather than new questions.
Each month we run every question in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode. For each answer we record whether your business is mentioned, whether the answer links to your site and whether the details are accurate.
Each result records what the engine said on the day we tested, because AI answers vary between days, people and model versions. One test is a snapshot; the trend over several months shows whether the work is paying off.
How AEO and GEO work starts.
Free assessment. If you send your website address, a person on our team tests whether AI assistants currently mention you and replies within one business day (Monday to Friday).
Written scope and fixed price. Whether it is a retainer or a standalone project, you see the work and the price in writing before anything starts.
Fixes in order. Crawler access and raw HTML first, then answer-first pages and schema, then your fact registry and listings.
Monthly tests on a retainer. We take a baseline with the agreed question set in all six engines, then rerun it every month and report each engine on its own line.
What we won't promise you.
No llms.txt promises. An llms.txt file is a text file some sites publish hoping AI models will read it. We do not sell one as a way to get cited.
No guaranteed AI ranking. No one controls what an AI assistant says. Answers change by user, by day and by model version, so there is no fixed position to guarantee. We commit to the work and to honest measurement against your baseline.
No mass-produced AI pages. Hundreds of thin, machine-written pages can look like growth for a few months, then drop out of Google and AI answers together. Every page we write carries specific facts about your business, and you approve it first.
How AEO and GEO are priced.
The SEO retainer starts at $1,499 a month, and the on-page work on this page sits inside it because it overlaps so heavily with SEO. A standalone project suits a site that already ranks and needs a one-time fix, such as crawler access, server rendering, schema or a business-fact clean-up. It is scoped after a free assessment, with a written scope and fixed price before work starts.
Building a new site? Our Growth website from $5,499 includes schema stacks, Quick Facts and FAQ blocks on every page. See every package on our pricing page, what goes into a new website build, or how a full CRO project (conversion rate optimization) turns AI visitors into inquiries.

Questions about AEO and GEO
What are generative engine optimization services?
Generative engine optimization services make your business easier for AI assistants to find, understand and recommend. The work covers page structure, specific facts, schema, raw HTML that crawlers can read, AI crawler access, fresh content and consistent business details across directories. On an SEO retainer it is followed by monthly tests in each AI engine. Our comparison of SEO, AEO and GEO shows where each one starts and stops.
How much do generative engine optimization services cost?
At Flamcom, on-page AEO and GEO work is part of the SEO retainer from $1,499 a month, in US dollars, with each AI engine reported separately. A standalone project, such as fixing crawler access, server rendering and schema on a site that already ranks, is quoted after a free assessment. You get a written scope and a fixed price before any work starts.
Does GEO work for local businesses?
Yes. People ask AI assistants local questions, such as which family dentist nearby is open on Saturdays. What helps most is matching facts everywhere: your Google Business Profile, Bing Places listing, directories and website should agree on name, address, phone, hours and services. We keep those in a fact registry for each client and check every listing against it.
Do I need GEO if I already pay for SEO?
For Google's AI features, good SEO already covers most of it, because they use Google's own index. ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude pick sources differently, so you need someone checking those engines one by one and fixing what they miss. Our retainer covers the on-page part. For plain definitions, see our GEO vs SEO comparison.
Do I need an llms.txt file?
No, not to be cited by AI engines, and we do not sell one as a citation tactic. The work that changes AI visibility is structure, facts, crawler access and consistent business details. The free website checker shows whether AI crawlers can reach a page and read it without JavaScript; the free assessment covers the rest.
How long does it take to get cited by AI engines?
There is no fixed date, and mentions can come before your main Google rankings do. Engines that search the web live, such as Perplexity, can pick up improved pages relatively quickly. Answers that rely on what a model learned in training change slowly, over months. Unblocking a crawler only lets an engine read your pages again; being cited still depends on the content. On a retainer, the monthly report shows which engine is moving.
